Loved how this traces fortune from Machiavellian domination to Boethian acceptance to Dante's charity. The insight that misfortune strips false attacments to reveal true goods is something I've experienced firsthand during career setbacks. Boethius writing that in a jail cell before execution and still achieving immortal influence is pretty wild.
Right? Boethius’ story is so wild. I’ve had the same experience with setbacks too - very often what we call misfortune, if given enough time, often appears to be quite a nice stroke of luck
Good stuff.
"Yet an unreachable ideal does make it worthless."
Perhaps you meant "doesn't".
Excellent as always.
A typo indeed haha. Thanks Ken!
